Well, we made the big move to New York. While Mom and Dad have been busy with the various "fun" parts of the transition (hint: there are none), Kate has been living the NYC high life. Our temporary apartment is located off of Columbus Circle so she's been enjoying daily trips to the many playgrounds within Central Park, several visits to the Central Park Zoo and the Manhattan Children's Museum. Her fantastic temporary nanny has gotten her all over the Upper West Side to play with other children. Heck, she's even been to TWO birthday parties. It's not a stretch to say that her dad is quite jealous of all the fun she's had.
The tourism board should hire her. It's very funny to hear her repeat (over and over) "We're in NEW ... YORK ... CITY!" Speaking of talking, Kate does a lot of it. A lot. She is a chatterbox of full sentences. It's both amazing and exhausting. Our daughter has opinions about everything under the sun and quite enjoys giving directions, even to poor Dill. He's now subject to commands to sit, lie, "go over 'der", and countless other orders. I am only slightly luckier as Kate's official holder of things, picker upper, and access manager to the "fridg'rator," which Kate would stand in for house looking at and touching everything if we'd let her.
Thanks to our newfound proximity to my family, Kate has also gotten to spend a lot of time with her grandparents and even her two aunts. It's been terrific. She has developed quite an affection for Grandma Alice and Grandpa George. That affection is only surpassed by her obsession with their beagle Maggie. Dill is simply old news when Maggie is around. This kid is going to be a vetrinarian, I think.
