Kate is about 9.5 months old. Today she:
- waved bye bye, witnessed by me and her two daycare teachers
- stood up in her crib, witnessed by her daycare teachers
- cried hysterically when she went to bed tonight. We're not in the habit of rescuing her, but I went in her room because it just was so out of character for her to be that loud/upset. The poor little girl was sitting up, tears streaming down her face. Yup, she couldn't figure out how to lay back down. Doh!
She's not crawling yet - she just can't get one leg behind her. She's been at the same stage for a number of weeks now. But boy is she the master of the butt scoot and reaching for everything! If she sees it, she wants it. Especially if "it" is a cell phone, remote control, computer, the TV cabinet, her pacifier or her best buddy, Dill.
Dill still remains a fascination for her. I know she was dropping food from her high chair tonight just to watch him eat it. I'm pretty sure she's decided that Cheerios are fine for him, but she doesn't want them. Now cheese, that's another story. She loves it. Dill would love some of that, but she's not dropping that to the floor. Dill has gotten some licks because she does put her hands down to reach him. So sanitary! Mom is grossed out but still trying to figure out how to referee the relationship between these two.
That's about it...we love her and she brings us so many smiles and laughs each day. And 10 minutes later, you can want to pull your hair out. Give it five more minutes and all is well again. The extremes of babies...we'd have a baby who was nearly happy all the time if you could allow her to never ride in a car seat, never need a diaper change and nap at whim only in her crib. If you're still at the store or in the car when that "tired" moment hits, god help you. Oh, and eye drops for pink eye weren't too fun, either.
This blog is infrequent because we're just too busy. It kills me that I haven't done a better job keeping up because I know these moments are flying by, and I'll want Kate to know the "when you were little" stories with detail. I'm going to try to write brief impressions, even if I've missed big events. Under the theory that something is better than nothing.
The above photo is from yesterday, opening day in the baseball world and also Easter Sunday. So, in honor of both, Kate wore a Yankee dress. The Yankees lost, so Chris is wondering if she is still his good luck charm. Last summer, the summer of her birth, they won the World Series.
